When our family took a recent trip to Nashville, I couldn’t wait to bring some of my favorite art supplies along for the vacay. Making the decision of what to bring can be a difficult decision, but when it comes to creating away from the studio, less is definitely more.

Paint Brushes

If you have been following me on Instagram, you know that my favorite watercolor brushes are from Princeton. This Princeton Aqua Elite Travel Set of 4 watercolor brushes is a must have if you are going to paint on-the-go. It comes with four round brushes in the sizes 10, 8, 6, and 4. Each brush is compact and the case is small and compact enough to fit in any purse or tote bag.

Collapsible Water Cup

You can’t do watercolor without some water. This collapsible water cup from Faber-Castell is one that I think every watercolorist needs to have in their travel bag.

Watercolor Paints

Ahhhh. My absolute favorite. It wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t bring my trusty handmade watercolor paints along with me when I travelled.

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE watercolor set will always be “Elementary, My Dear.” With its primary colors, you can mix so many different hues that you would need to create on the go.

Colored Pencils

I have just started using color pencils more now that I am experimenting with mixed media.

These Faber-Castell Polychromos Artist Color Pencils are great to add details over dried watercolor paint or markers. They are super smooth and really fun to create with.

Pro tip: Don’t bring every color that you own. Stick to 10 colors or less.

Pencil Sharpener, Eraser, Pencil, Watercolor Pencil, Waterproof Pen, Brush Pen

I love to make my own DIY sketchbooks for travel! I can choose how much paper I want to add in it and what kind of paper is in each. If you’d like to make your very own, you can check out this past blog post!
