On Instagram, I have never participated in many creative challenges, like Inktober, simply because it never really inspired me. But this year, @indie.beginning has created their own creative challenge made solely to help Christian creatives grow in their creative craft and deepen their faith. Now THAT’S the kind of creative challenge that I can definitely get behind!

So here is how the #inkspiredinktober challenge works:

For every day of this month of October, they give you a word prompt that will help you connect with your faith and inspire your creativity. There are no limits or restrictions on medium or how you interpret the word prompt. And better yet, there is no pressure to get every single one done! It’s all about giving our Heavenly Father worship through our creativity. Fun, right?

As for me, it was just another amazing excuse for me to spend even more time focusing on my love of bible journaling.

Day 1: Pause

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!” -Psalm 37:7 ESV

Day 2: Guide

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn right or when you turn to the left.” -Isaiah 20:21 ESV

Day 3: Sparrow

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” -Matthew 10:29-31 ESV

Day 4: Treasure

“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” -Luke 12:32-34 ESV

Day 5: Wilderness

“The Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” -Matthew 4:1 ESV (Read Matt 4:1-11)

Day 6: Dawn

“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.” -Psalm 46:5 ESV

Day 7: Salt

“For everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” -Mark 9:49-50 ESV

For these bible journaling entries, I used:

  • Journaling Bible, Interleaved Edition in the ESV translation

  • Dots & Dust Handmade Watercolor Paints

  • Princeton Paintbrushes

  • Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen (Hard Tip)

  • Sakura Pigma Micron Pen

Here is a link to some of my other favorite bible journaling supplies!
