My 2023 Word of the Year

Happy 2023, Y’all!

I know that many of you have already committed to the concept of “a new year, a new you.” As for me, the beginning of a new year usually means that I take on the tradition of letting the Lord (or the universe, depending on what you believe in) guide me to a word that will become my “North Star.”

Since 2016, I have joyfully let each word guide, grow, and teach me to live out my life with more joy and peace. Last year, I took on the word “intentional” and I would have to say it was the most exciting year for my life and my business.

So what word will be taking me on a journey in 2023?

S I M P L I C I T Y

The word simplicity is defined as “the quality or condition of being easy to understand or do.”

Some synonyms are “clarity” or “intelligibility.”

Now I would LOVE to say I know HOW the Lord is going to use this word during my journey this year, but I definitely know better than to predict the plans that my heavenly father has for me. But I do have some ways I would like to try to live out the concept of “simplicity” more in my life:

Declutter my home and my schedule of things that zap my energy
Remove certain foods from my regular diet to ensure I am always feeling my best
Stop over analyzing new endeavors in my business and make less complicated plans to make “getting started” much easier
Only say “yes” to events that will bring me joy and peace
