A few weeks ago I was spending some time on social media when I came across a comment from a fellow follower. She very kindly stated that when she visited her local Michaels store, she noticed they were now carrying products specifically for bible journaling. I was thrilled to hear that Michaels was now catering to this awesome creative community! So I swung by and checked it out for myself.
And there it was.
A whole end cap filled with American Crafts bible journaling goodies!
The little creative girl inside was jumping up and down with pure glee!
So with a budget restraint in mind, I picked up a few items that I wanted to try out right away. First up? The American Crafts Bible Journaling Highlighters.
They come in five different color packs: Pastels, Multicolor, Neutrals, Soft, and Neon. I picked up the Pastels, Multicolor, Soft, and Neon. The Neutral pack contains a silver, bronze, and white highlighter. Since I already got a silver highlighter in the Soft pack and didn’t feel the need for the white highlighter, I decided to forego the Neutral pack.
When testing out new products, I would suggest using a test page in the back of your bible. Here is a color swatch of the highlighters that I picked up.
What is so awesome about these highlighters is that they are perfect for bible journaling. Much like the gel highlighters that are popular amongst the journaling community, these contain a waxy (crayon-like) feel. But they glide across the page so smoothly. They are a real treat to use and best of all, NO BLEED THROUGH! When you want some more, just twist the bottom to advance the gel top. Out of all the packs, I really loved the Neon and Multicolor colors. They were vibrant and remind me so much of traditional highlighter colors.
The American Craft Bible Journaling Highlighters are great to point out a few verses or if you want to color the margins of your page. I would definitely recommend these to anyone.
You can even use these to create cool patterns on your page. Here, I created pastel balls of colors using the highlighters. I loved how simple this page turned out and is one of my top posts on Instagram.
If you happened to pick up any of these for yourself, I would love to know what you think of them too! Feel free to leave me a comment below!
