Behind the Set: “Catch the Night”

Growing up, I really didn’t have many close female friendships. I guess with the constant moving from my father being in the Army, I was always so scared that many of them would let me down or judge me. It wasn’t until I became a military wife that I truly realized the value of being around other women and cultivating close friendships. With the hubby constantly traveling and being away from home, I began to rely on my female friendships even more. And what I learned from opening up and letting other women get close was that we had a lot in common and that their wisdom and strength was just what I needed during my more challenging seasons in my life.

I also learned that even during those pockets of strife, girls were quick to cheer you up and knew how to have a good time! And it’s those very moments of jubilation and late-night “laugh until you cry” moments that should be cherished and celebrated.

The Dots & Dust newest watercolor set, Catch the Night, is dedicated to all of those fun and hilarious conversations and meals that I have spent with some of my closest girlfriends. Even after many of us have moved to states miles apart and our lives have gotten even busier, we still like to send each other messages to reminisce on those days from our past. Just a little reminder that ‘Hey girl. I am still here if you need me.’

Catch the Night was made to spark pure joy. With its entire set comprised of shimmery colors to include a chameleon, color-shifting shade (a first-ever for Dots & Dust), it is sure to bring a smile to the artist’s face when he/she puts paint on paper.

The colors chosen for this set are Karaoke Queen (shimmery hot pink), Strike a Pose (shimmery bluish purple), Jazzed (shimmery royal blue), Mic Drop (color-shifting shimmery blue/purple to pink/orange), and Slay It (shimmery lavender with larger grained silver mica).

I believe it is pretty obvious why I chose to make this set’s design in the shape of a moon. BUT can you tell which flower I chose to be the star?

Why, it’s a moonflower, of course! I am such a clever cat, I know. 😂😉

And there you have it. The story behind what makes our first new set of 2021 special in our eyes.

So whether you are grabbing a mic to prove you are the reigning “Karaoke Queen" or you are just "Jazzed" that the workweek is over, just keep in mind that this set is made for anyone ready to enjoy life and have a great time!
